Coding, art, music and life skills

The Second Lesson rotates through science, social studies, coding, art and music, and life skills, on the weekdays you choose.

What it is

Each weekday's Second Lesson is one subject. By default: Monday science, Tuesday social studies, Wednesday coding and logic, Thursday art or music (they take turns week by week), Friday life skills. Every lesson has a hands-on part: an experiment, a drawing (kept in the portfolio), clapping or singing (with a song of the month), an unplugged logic game, or practicing a life skill with you. After a coding lesson, Robot puzzles practice the same ideas, and the app checks every answer itself. Typing lessons open at age 7 (best with a keyboard).

Why it helps your kid

Arizona asks for more than reading and math, and kids this age learn coding, art and life skills best by doing them with their hands.

Where to find it

Family → Second Lesson weekdays to change the rotation. Kids find Robot puzzles and Typing under More to explore on their home screen. Your kid's page shows their progress.

How to do it

  1. Pick a subject for each weekday, or keep the default.
  2. When a lesson says to get a grown-up, it's a short hands-on part; a few minutes is enough.
  3. Life skills never ask for your real address or phone number in the app; your kid practices those out loud with you.

What your kid sees

Today's Second Lesson, then More to explore: Library, Robot puzzles, Typing and Extra practice.
