The Living Sky

Adelante's colors and logo follow the real sky where you live: sky blue by day, a sunset in the evening, dark with stars at night.

What it is

The logo is a little window onto your sky right now: the sun at its real height, rising at your sunrise and setting at your sunset, and at night the stars and Luna, the moon, in tonight's real phase. The whole app's colors move with it, and the browser tab icon does too. Kids can tap the logo on their home screen for 'Look up!': when the sun sets, the moon's phase, and how many days until the full moon, worked out by code, then go outside and check. It uses your time zone's city, never your location, and every color is checked so text stays easy to read at every hour.

Why it helps your kid

School happens in the real world. Noticing the sky is science, and dark colors at night are easier on everyone's eyes.

Where to find it

Everywhere. Change it under Family → Colors on this device (kids: Me).

How to do it

  1. Follow the sky (the default), Always light, Always dark, or Same as my phone.
  2. The choice is for this device only.
  3. On the kid's home screen, tap the logo for Look up!

What your kid sees

Their school's colors changing with the day, and the Look up! card.
